Orphan Black– late to the game on this but I am here and boy is this game quick and fun. Turns that make sense and Tatiana Maslany is an amazing actress
Mad Men– If you aren’t watching this show then you just hate things. You are probably the person who also hates ice cream and pizza. Not together you sick fuck. Mad Men is an intricately scripted and paced show for your viewing pleasure and dissection.
Attack on Titan– My first anime. I am labeling my first because it is the first that I am wanting to watch more. I love this show so much. It is so different than other anime I have seen. So if you were hesitant like me, maybe this will be the one to catch you.
Elektra by W. Haden Blackman and Mike Del Mundo– Beautiful writing and artwork. Like insane artwork. Panel designs that are astounding. I also love Elektra. I knew nothing about her except she wears red and now I love her hard.
One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez– One of the most beautifully written and compelling things I have ever read. A tale of cycles and how each new cycle is a little worn down than the past one.
The Mortal Instruments: City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare- These titles just make my soul ache a bit. I already have a bit of shame liking these books and the titles make it worse. The next to last book in this serious. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I can see it. Truth: they are good entertainment. Written fairly well and I want to know what is going to happen next.
Love is A Mix Tape by Rob Sheffield– I have read a couple of these personal essay books that are sheathed in musical references and they all end up being the same. There is chunks about college or the late teen years and struggling to find love. The girl they love the most in the book is described in these terms that always is a form of a Punk-Rock Manic Pixie Girl. I haven’t read much of this book so I won’t give it a full review now but it is starting to teeter into these common zones.
My Struggle by Karl Ove Knausgaard – I keep on hearing things about this book and it sounds so interesting. I don’t know how to explain it and I will let you know my thoughts when I start reading it (hopefully soon).
Hundred Waters– Beautiful and wobbly like a ripple in a pond. I am poetic as fuck.
The Crookes– Love Love Love. Like if the Smiths and Pulp had an itty bitty baby that was full of awesome and no Morrissey. And the Housemartins are involved in this 90s threeway birth. So much placenta.
Once Upon A Time– You create a story together! Like some family back in the days before electricity. But this time you can beat their asses down with your amazing story telling. Mind you this game was made for me. I lost but that is irrelvant. Who else is going to introduce the Crunk Juice Chalice in to a classic fairy tale?
X-Men Days of Future Past- One of my favorite superhero/comic book movies ever. A great compelling story with appropriate action. Characters I cared about and not too wonky on the plausibility part. Scary in the proverbial sense not in the hell-spawn-demon sense.
Edge of Tomorrow– I have seen this trailer repeatedly and I kind of want to see it but i think it would get more traction if you just called it what it really is : Space Groundhog Day
